Weekend Holiday Events in Lake Oconee

Are you looking for something fun and festive to do this weekend?  Well, look no further!  There are many holiday events in Lake Oconee this weekend that you can get involved in!  We have outlined a few of them below:

Christmas Movie in The Briar Patch – The Polar Express will be featured at the Eatonton Cotton Warehouse tonight, December 9th, at 6pm.  Due to the cold weather it will be indoors.  There will be food available for purchase including hot chocolate.  So, gather you friends and family, and hop aboard the Polar Express!  For more details, click here.

Christmas in the Briar Patch – On Saturday, December 10th, Eatonton Mainstreet will host their annual Arts and Crafts Bazaar on the Courthouse lawn from 2-7pm.  This is the perfect time to get some of your holiday shopping done!  The Lighted Christmas Parade will begin at 6pm, and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance, so bring your camera and get a picture with them!!  For more details, click here.

Annual Holiday Parade and Caroling by Candlelight in Madison – The theme for this year’s annual Holiday Parade through Downtown Madison is “I’ll Be Home For The Holiday:  Honoring Our Men and Women in Uniform.”  The parade will be Saturday, December 10th, from 4-5pm, and will feature floats, vintage cars, horses, dogs, dancers, walking groups and the award-winning MCHS Marching Bulldog Band.  Following the parade from 5-7pm, local choirs, school choral groups and community-based musicians will perform holiday carols. Ice Skating at The Ritz-Carlton – The Ice Rink at the Pavilion is open now through January 2nd!  Skating sessions are daily from 10am-2pm and 4pm-8pm.  You can also enjoy hot cocoa and apple cider while you’re at it!  Ritz-Carlton guests can skate complimentary.  For the general public admission is $20 for children and $30 for adults.

November was another great month for the Lake Oconee real estate market!  Just like October, there were 69 transactions:  50 residential properties and 19 land lots.  This is significantly higher than last year, as there were only 44 sales in November 2015.  As you can see, despite the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, people are still purchasing real estate!  Continue reading below for a detailed November 2016 Lake Oconee real estate market review.

Holiday Events at Lake Oconee

The holiday season is upon us, and there are many fun and festive events happening around the Lake Oconee area.  From the annual lighting of the tree in downtown Greensboro, to the Holiday Tour of Homes in Madison, there is something for everyone!  Take a look below to see what holiday events are going on this weekend.

Ice Skating at The Ritz-Carlton From now through January 2nd, you can go ice skating right here in Lake Oconee! Hard to believe?  It’s true! The 6,000 square foot Ice Rink at the Pavilion is open to the public for another year of ice skating.  The ice rink is open from 10am-2pm and 4pm-8pm daily through January 2nd.  You can also enjoy hot cocoa and apple cider while you’re at it!  Ice skating is complimentary for guests.  For the public, the cost is $20 for children and $30 for adults.

Lighting of the Tree Tonight, December 2nd at 6pm is the annual lighting of the tree in Downtown Greensboro.  The actual event will take place just after 6pm, but the festivities will continue through 8pm.  Come out and enjoy live music from local choirs, sip on hot cocoa, take a hay ride, or visit with Santa!  Downtown shops will be merry and bright with twinkling lights, and you can get a jump start on your holiday shopping!!

Holiday Tour of Homes in Madison Today and tomorrow you can take a self-guided holiday tour through some of the most lavishly decorated private and historic homes in Madison, Georgia.  There are daytime and candlelit tours offered.  The cost of this event is $32 for Daytime tours, $32 for Candlelit tours, and $55 for a combo pass.

Gingerbread Workshop with Mrs. Claus Mrs. Claus and her elves will be at the Ritz-Carlton on Saturday, Dec 3rd, 10th & 17th from 2-4pm making gingerbread houses.  Join them in making these precious houses, while enjoying yummy cookies and hot chocolate.  They will provide pre-built houses, candy, icing and a box to take your gingerbread home in.  This event requires a reservation, and the cost is $65 per house.  Contact The Ritz-Carlton’s Restaurant Coordinator at 706-467-7059 to make your reservation.
